totally addicted to bass..saul bass

heres an image to drum up interest in a film
being made by sam fielder. its an odd tale filled
with supernatural things..i thought an ode to bass
and 50 and 60's poster design would suit..but with
a modern twist

i really like doing posters
for a monthly indie night and
i feel this makes up for last
months rush job

adding little details like this lantern bird
and colour grading more and then ofcourse
the type...

combining the illustration with old newspapers
and parchment i get this weathered textured
backing and then colour grade and light to
match.

inspired by peter pan and little nemo
i really wanted to do someone sailing
on a cloud..originally the captain had
an octopus on his head but that looked
silly..

the audreys poster comp.

its amazing what a bit of aging can do
to a poster..i went from liking to loving
this one now...of course that will change
as soon as i start my next project...sigh




i dont usually enter poster comps but
this one seemed to tempting to pass up..
esp seeing the audreys have a rich history
of great posters..theres also the golden
carrot of being featured in a magazine..
niiiice...so fingers crossed..lets see

here's an early version of the latest crooked fiddle
poster..its a lot different to how i first saw it
but with most things it evolved into something better
along the way..although the b&w version may be closer
to what i had in mind
