It seems i have a bit of a thing about
antiquating space these days..anyways i was
thinking about this looney tunes cartoon where the
rivals clock in and out at the end of each day of
tit et tating..then when doodling i thought about the
space race..anyways heres the result and serge from stoop
seems happy enough with it for me to do his EP..yay

ps.jack carty concept
this is an early concept for the cd art
as a pps i sent the concepts through to
him and he flipped so i hope these ideas
are close to being the actual art
also there is this colour concept..i like this for it dynamic
splashes of colour but maybe i prefer the sepia toned one because
it looks like a weird silent film
jack carty concepts
so as i was on the interweb the other day
i decided to check my myspace..something i
don't do as often as i once did..there i
found a week old message from jack carty
asking me if i might wanna do album art for
him ..he had seen my emma davis and leroy lee
stuff and liked it ...so i emailed back and
waiting nervously to see if the offer was
still there..in the meantime i worked up
these concepts that had struck me while
buying a chicken ceaser wrap for lunch
anyways..fingers crossed he likes them

the boy and bear ep
UPDATE
on a whole the band liked it but has asked for the
astronaut to be replaced with something more from
the old world..which is not a problem for me
first draft
ok so this is the most nerve racking time
when you sent it off to the band and you
have no idea what their response will be..
fingers crossed
disc art
i wanted to keep this fairly simple and
have the lighthouses kinda make a clock
face
stages 4
the astronaut had to be like an old 70's
style astronaut ..mainly cause i liked the
orange jumpsuit..the issue with this has been
my war between wanting it to be detailed but
not having it a mess when shrunk down..the
removal of the canvas texture helped with this..
as a side note i really wanted him to look like
ernest hemingway or atleast how pappa would have
seen him self as the old man
stage 3-lighthouse island
finding the right way to do the island was tricky
at first i wanted a manhattan island sized island
full of lighthouses..an idea i might keep to one side
for further boy and bear material ..in the end a rottness
island sized island was the best option..it seemed to hold
more of a mysterious island quality to it
the lighthouse
the lighthouse took a while to create..to have
one lighthouse that can look like a town full
of lighthouses with out it looking like i just
cut and paste was a hard balance to find
stage 2- background texture
as done before in their poster i wanted
the weathered and textured backgrounds of
my boy and bear stuff to be a link from
project to project..my aim is to have it
look like an old movie being projected onto
old tattered wallpaper
stage one-the concept
the idea of a an island filled with nothing
but lighthouses has been in my head for a
while..it wasnt executed earlier because i
had it on hold for a childrens book but after
reworking that i decided to attach it to this
project mainly due to the fact i wanted something
bold an unseen before to be placed behind the
lost at sea astronaut .
