childrens book of revelations preview image

my day with soko

the first three pics are from tthe shoot the

player shoot we did with the infamous

french songbird soko ..she played three

songs , new songs, in waverly cemetry

and we filmed here trapsing through the

beachside resting place..again i think i have

a cameo as a useless egg shaker ..sigh but its

all good..afterwards we headed to bondi

where we hung out and she missed her

sound check..naughty...as a favour i told

her i would make here a pair of alien ears

for her gig..so using a mickey mouse hat and

an old tv antenna i fashioned a alien headress

which she donned for her encore and also

gave us a nice shout out for doing so...

twas a strange and fun day and kinda

demystified that whole celeb thing

as our colour swatch , dim and i

spent the last weekend of 2008

creating a new room for our bubba

jack...we hope he love it as much

as we do

this was a fun marriage as i had in
mind something to do with a car made

of flowers and then emma asked for some

thing that involved her much loved vw

beetle...its nice when things just click

so this is for peats ridge promos in the

form of a postcard...with more work

this will become the front cover of her

ep...the inspirations on this were very

much jay ryans cover of chabon's final
solution papaerback

the childrens book of revelations

today saw the first full day of

work on the art collection known

as the children's book of revelations.

its an exhibition i aim to hold mid

year with lots of works the denote

just how fucked the world has become

but done in a playful and whimsical fashion..

the first half a dozen images will be

previewed at the post festival festival

and these two rough images are

from two of the art works that

will be on show...

also on show 20 of my fave gig posters

i had so so so much fun doing this
and as a side note , please notice

there will be art by me on show..

this art work is a loose sequal to

last years post festival festival

poster which can be seen for

historical value here..

back to the town of magnificent

this is the early version of the single 

cover to down in your valley...this is

of course subject to change at the whim 

of the band but for me its an image..star

gazing that is..that ive been wanting to do

for a while and was going to have on the 

augie march album cover that fell through

evolution number 9

this idea just occurred to me and it filled

me with such excitement that i had to blog

it so i can remember it later....

so i want to spend a year drawing the evolution

of a city from paddock to cottage to booming

metropolis ..and at its anchor point the original

cottage de-evolving....my hope is to draw

atleast one building a day ..maybe more for one

year...in the last quarter i will keep drawing and

animate and ask the musicians i know around

sydney to contribute a section of score or voice

and have the music build like a phillip glass piece..

im really excited by this and i wanna ear mark its

first showing on my 34th birthday which is insane

seeing i am 32....

if i go ahead with this i will document the stages

of its progress as i go along..

this poster was going to be something

completely different , like two business

tie snakes fighting like cobras..but it didnt

look so hot when done..this idea had been

floating in my head for some time and seemed

perect for this type of poster
