we shot reggie on a hot weekend

at the infamous harry's cafe de wheels..

he played a couple of songs and then

played a free style jazz riff on the piano

i emailed darren hanlon about a vid we
discussed doing this morning..i worked on this
bare bones future city scene just to see if
i can do it....if he says yes

Twas an early start on a sunday morning

but it was worth it to photograph cloud

control playing two songs for the sydney

festival edition of shoot the player..

with the left overs of the night before

and the local crazies spectating the kids

played old fave old books and new fave

hollow drum...

the doctor is in

the first project done on my laptop

using photoshop..yay..so this is for

a music festival in petersham where

the headline act is youth group..im

hoping the suess-ness of this and the

bold colours will attract a fair amount

of attention from punters and ..wink wink

twas a hot afternoon in surry but

dead letter played a fantastic set

of 4 or five songs that had kids

and passerbye becoming eagre

spectators....gabs played 1 or 2

songs on the sydney festival piano

..this concept will be part of a series

so the show went well, if not a little dimly lit
but the entire night was a sell out event..which
is great plus i may be adding to these for the
big artssue

been working pretty intensely over the last
week to get images ready for the preview

my day with soko

the first three pics are from tthe shoot the

player shoot we did with the infamous

french songbird soko ..she played three

songs , new songs, in waverly cemetry

and we filmed here trapsing through the

beachside resting place..again i think i have

a cameo as a useless egg shaker ..sigh but its

all good..afterwards we headed to bondi

where we hung out and she missed her

sound check..naughty...as a favour i told

her i would make here a pair of alien ears

for her gig..so using a mickey mouse hat and

an old tv antenna i fashioned a alien headress

which she donned for her encore and also

gave us a nice shout out for doing so...

twas a strange and fun day and kinda

demystified that whole celeb thing

as our colour swatch , dim and i

spent the last weekend of 2008

creating a new room for our bubba

jack...we hope he love it as much

as we do

this was a fun marriage as i had in
mind something to do with a car made

of flowers and then emma asked for some

thing that involved her much loved vw

beetle...its nice when things just click

so this is for peats ridge promos in the

form of a postcard...with more work

this will become the front cover of her

ep...the inspirations on this were very

much jay ryans cover of chabon's final
solution papaerback

the childrens book of revelations

today saw the first full day of

work on the art collection known

as the children's book of revelations.

its an exhibition i aim to hold mid

year with lots of works the denote

just how fucked the world has become

but done in a playful and whimsical fashion..

the first half a dozen images will be

previewed at the post festival festival

and these two rough images are

from two of the art works that

will be on show...

also on show 20 of my fave gig posters

back to the town of magnificent

this is the early version of the single 

cover to down in your valley...this is

of course subject to change at the whim 

of the band but for me its an image..star

gazing that is..that ive been wanting to do

for a while and was going to have on the 

augie march album cover that fell through

evolution number 9

this idea just occurred to me and it filled

me with such excitement that i had to blog

it so i can remember it later....

so i want to spend a year drawing the evolution

of a city from paddock to cottage to booming

metropolis ..and at its anchor point the original

cottage de-evolving....my hope is to draw

atleast one building a day ..maybe more for one

year...in the last quarter i will keep drawing and

animate and ask the musicians i know around

sydney to contribute a section of score or voice

and have the music build like a phillip glass piece..

im really excited by this and i wanna ear mark its

first showing on my 34th birthday which is insane

seeing i am 32....

if i go ahead with this i will document the stages

of its progress as i go along..

this poster was going to be something

completely different , like two business

tie snakes fighting like cobras..but it didnt

look so hot when done..this idea had been

floating in my head for some time and seemed

perect for this type of poster

monsters right for about a week

now and i think i finally cracked it..

boy i wish i could draw this fast..
ok so this is for the teen atyp monster
poster ..having many kids to draw i use
a template of face and body type and then
with each character give them their own
characteristics..this one is the cheerleader

THE RETURN TO PAC MOUNTAIN

I will be working with the boys

from the small hours as part of

their design print bizness..first

up is a fun poster for their up

coming world bar gig..i liked

doing this poster alot as it plays

with both colour and shape and

retro gaming...it also suits the band

and venue which is always a plus

fact i had to run off to a

wedding this shoot in a burnt

out house in summer hill was a blast..

wow i wish every street had a burnt

house to play in...as long as its not

mine

chatting up a storm

i wanted this to look like if andy warhol had
been a sk8board designer in the 50's and had done
the velvet underground album...
ps i have so much fun working with mr cheshire.
